About this tool

What the check actually reads.

You give it a business name and a city. It looks the listing up through the Google Places API and reads back what Google publishes about you: your primary category and any secondary categories, how many photos are on the profile, your review count and star rating, how recently the most recent review landed, whether opening hours are set, whether the profile is still marked as operational, and the phone number and website Google has on file.

Each of those becomes a pass, a warning, or a fail, and the score is the sum. Some checks come back marked as manual — the profile description, posts, and owner-seeded questions are not exposed through the API, so the tool tells you to look at those yourself in the dashboard rather than guessing.

If the search comes back with nothing, that is usually one of two things: the name and city you typed do not match the listing Google has, or the profile has never been verified. Both are worth knowing. If several listings come back, pick yours from the list and the check runs on that one.
